Cheers, Chipo!
I am writing to you because I can’t live with the endless cacophony of words trapped in my head. They bounce off the walls of my mind 24/7, leaving much more than cosmetic damage in its wake. I’ve never really known who I am, so I thought writing to you would help me discover the answer.
And even if it doesn’t, at least with you I’ll feel less lost. Maybe even found.
I’m River Seeker. A lost soul looking for hope.
Chipo, you are a cheetah who was gifted to me by my very own hands (and financial funds). I needed an outlet for all these feelings, so I chose you. Your name actually means “A Gift” in the Shona language from Zimbabwe. Though I’ve never traveled there, I thought you were deserving of a poetic name, and that one was too perfect to pass up.
But I want you to know that this newly formed partnership between us is not one-sided. You get something worthwhile out of this too. You are now my new adventure companion, a fellow seeker who will join me on this journey of finding beauty in a world that can sometimes feel too ugly to live in. We’ll take my camera, notebook, and pen to document our adventures, and then share them with the world.
Even though I’m writing to you as a form of therapy for me, I hope that our correspondence can inspire other lost souls to seek hope. This can be bigger than just the two of us. We can change the world.
Even if it’s just one person’s world.
Yours in Seeking,
River Seeker
