Cheers, Chipo!
It’s no secret that the world is fucked right now. No one has the chance to stop and even breathe. Instead, we’re all forced to endure wave after terrifying wave of hardships from the ones in power. To many, the world is ending.
So what hope can we seekers possibly find in a world like this one?
It’s funny, despite my years of living with mental illness, trauma, and more, I’m still a very hopeful person who isn’t quite ready to give up on my fellow human beings. Yes, there’s no doubt that the evils of humanity have cursed this beautiful planet. As a cheetah, your kind is unfortunately all too familiar with the cruelty that humans cause. No amount of apologies from me could make up the pain that your kind have been forced to endured. But to you friend, I still say I’m sorry.
In times like the one we find ourselves in, I choose to seek the silver linings. What does that mean? To this seeker, it means to look for the light among the clouds—the positives that exist alongside the often too many negatives. It’s not about ignoring the bad in hopes that it will all just go away—I refuse to promote ignorance in search of peace and happiness. Instead, it’s recognizing balance and shifting perspective in order to find it. From my countless years of sitting in different therapists’ offices, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that one of the few things we have control over is the way that we respond to what life puts before us.

So how am I responding to these frightening times we find ourselves in? I’ll admit Chipo, some days are better than others. I’m no stranger to feeling depressed and hopeless, wondering hat’s the point of even continuing on in life when everything has gone to shit. I’ve been completely consumed by rage, angered that so much has gone wrong in our world because of selfish, pathetic, and egoistical losers who take sick pleasure in making others suffer. God, what losers they are. I can’t let them win by giving up now.

Despite the chaos and cruelty, I promise you that I won’t become a vessel of apathy and hate. I promise to hope and to work fro something better. I refuse to become an indifferent zombie who doesn’t care. I take my role as a seeker seriously, and I’ll seek the silver linings until my time on Earth is up. I hope you’ll join me.
Yours in seeking,
River Seeker
